Laura Krick is a visual artist originally from Ontario, now based in Vancouver, BC. Laura Krick’s creative process begins with a camera and a keen eye for the often overlooked. She paints and draws, drawing from various sources including her own photography, images provided by others, and vintage photographs from thrift stores. She works both figuratively and with abstraction to recreate her sensory experiences and invent new ones. Her paintings and drawings reflect her experiences of place, both personal and vicarious.
Krick holds a BA Honours in Art and Art History from the University of Toronto/Sheridan College and an MFA from Emily Carr University. She has exhibited her work in Vancouver, Toronto, and Istanbul, where she completed a six-week artist residency at Maumau Works.
